We hire for ambition and train for skills
Being an account manager at Academic Work is not like any other job you’ve ever had in your life. We want to make sure you develop into the best version of yourself you can be.
There are many things that make working here is different. That’s because, for over two decades, our business has been finding out what people in the job market – people like you – are looking for, and then finding out who is prepared to offer it to them. And in this case, your development is what we all focus on.
We have a very clear personal development plan for all our staff called “Career Steps” – and as an account manager, it means you can hit the ground running while building a strong foundation for a successful career.
As the name suggests, it contains specific steps and actions to ensure that you become the best person you can be, inside and outside the office.
It starts with a introduction program where you learn about us, our processes and our systems, and over your first year you’ll have a chance to work with a sales coach who will help you with everything you need when it comes to building up your client base. (Link to onboarding page)

Continued development
In your second year we’ll concentrate more on helping you understand your customers on a deeper level, what their needs are and how best to plan their personnel requirements with them.
After that you’ll move on to the third step, with responsibility for bigger and more complex deals while working with strategic clients, while step four will make sure you’re ready for a more senior role, with all the personal development and training that entails.
The last step is becoming a senior account manager, and with that comes both freedom and responsibility; you will have a big say in your own continued development while acting as a mentor and a role model for others.
Why Career Steps? Over two decades we have learned from and listened to those who have gone before you, and we have implemented the things they told us were important to them in their role as account managers. This means things like flexible working and unlimited commission on the deals you make, but also a commitment to continued development in your role.

Challenging each other
It’s not just about us challenging you; it’s about challenging each other, setting ambitious targets and reaching them together. As a large international organisation, you will have opportunities to grow and develop in ways you never thought possible.
We hire for ambition and train for skills. When we bring you on board, we start by giving you the tools you need to succeed. By sharing knowledge and with open and honest feedback, we grow together.
If you have a background in sales and know the game, that’s great. If you don’t, it doesn’t really matter. What we are looking for is people with a sense of their own potential and the desire to maximise it – someone who knows not just who they are, but who they can be. And most importantly, who they want to be.
Being an account manager at Academic Work is not like any other job you’ve ever done in your life, but becoming one will be the best decision you ever make in your life.
